Whitaker Foundation Showcases Prof. Webster's Research

Prof. Webster Headshot
The Whitaker Foundation, whose mission is to support research and education in biomedical engineering, recently showcased Professor Tom Webster's research on their web page.

Professor Webster's research demonstrates two ways of aligning tiny carbon tubes to mimic the surfaces of collagen fibers and ceramic crystals found in natural bone. The engineered surface attracts and holds a higher percentage of developing bone cells (osteoblasts) than conventional surfaces do, making a better material for longer lasting artificial joints.
