Why did you choose Aeronautics and Astronautics?
I chose Aeronautics and Astronautics as I have always had a deep passion for everything outer space. I knew that attending Purdue and studying aerospace engineering would help me achieve my lifelong dream of sending a rocket into space.

Best event or organization you’ve participated in within AAE?
The best organization I have participated in is the Purdue Space Program.

Best event or organization you’ve participated in outside of AAE?
The best organization I have participated in outside of AAE is the Purdue Ski and Snowboard Club.

Why did you want to be an AAE Ambassador?
I want to be an AAE Ambassador because I think that it is a really good way for me to give back to this amazing school and program in the best way possible.

Mackey on gameday

Favorite class you’ve taken thus far and why?
EAPS106 - Geosciences in the Cinema, with Andrew Freed. By far one of the most interesting classes I have taken, and he teaches natural sciences in a super fun and inviting way.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential AAE student?
Never give up! Aerospace can be challenging, but it is not impossible, and remember that it is always worth pursuing your dreams.

Who is someone you look up to in the Aero/Astro industry and why?
The Wright Brothers. It is insane to think what they were able to accomplish with such little resources and information they had available to them.

What motivates you to succeed?
My biggest motivation is knowing that when I do succeed at achieving my dreams, my younger self would be proud to know that we made it.

What is your ultimate career goal?
My goal is to work on a project to send humans to another planet to potentially set up interstellar habitats.

What do you like to do when you’re not studying/in the lab or classroom?
I am currently learning how to DJ and make music, and it has become one of my favorite hobbies.

Favorite Fun Fact about Purdue?
Purdue is known as the "Cradle of Astronauts". We have 27 alumni who have travelled to space, including the first man in space, the first man on the moon, and the last man on the moon.
