Why did you choose Aeronautics and Astronautics?
I chose AAE first for the wonder of looking up at the stars, and also because of the practical need as climate change progresses. I want to work towards a future where humanity can live away from Earth, while also not causing harm to our own planet. For this reason, I want to pursue a career in "green" propulsion systems for space vehicles.
Best event or organization you’ve participated in within AAE?
Undergraduate Research at Zucrow Labs
Best event or organization you’ve participated in outside of AAE?
All-American Marching Band
Why did you want to be an AAE Ambassador?
I wanted to be an AAE ambassador because of the amazing opportunities that Purdue AAE has given me. I am particularly drawn to the role of giving tours because it feels like a way to give back and ensure that others have the same incredible opportunities that I did. The AAE tour I went on as an incoming freshman was one of the reasons I chose Purdue! I also appreciate the opportunities to connect with faculty and network with industry professionals, as I prepare to navigate post-grad professional life.
Favorite place on campus?
The airport (KLAF)
Favorite class you’ve taken thus far and why?
I am really enjoying AAE 439: Rocket Propulsion with Professor Pourpoint because it is very applicable to the work I want to do and we get to launch our own rockets!
What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential AAE student?
I would recommend that you find peer mentors in your clubs and classes who can provide advice on anything from technical knowledge to life problems. Your friends and classmates are your best connections!
Who is someone you look up to in the Aero/Astro industry and why?
I was so lucky to be mentored by Robin Gates, the director of the ISS, last year and I really admire her for her ability to stay calm and problem solve in stressful situations, her leadership skills, and her commitment to work-life balance.
What motivates you to succeed?
I love a challenge, so I try to take any opportunity that makes me uncomfortable because I know that is where I learn the most.
What is your ultimate career goal?
My ultimate career goal is to work on developing propulsion systems for green propellants for space vehicles and one day travel to space.
What do you like to do when you’re not studying/in the lab or classroom?
I love flying planes, running, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
