Why did you choose Aeronautics and Astronautics?
I have always been fascinated by the idea of flight and space exploration, but what drew me towards aerospace engineering was the challenge behind making something fly and the technology behind it. I love that AAE combines creativity, technology, problem solving and physics to work on things that once seemed impossible.
Best event or organization you’ve participated in within AAE?
My favorite experiences within AAE has been being involved with the Purdue Space Program. It has given me the opportunity to see how concepts from the classroom translate into real aerospace projects while working alongside students who share the same excitement for the field.
Best event or organization you’ve participated in outside of AAE?
The best event of organization I have been a part of outside of AAE has to be UR Global. We get together with students and organize events and trips for students living in UR and that experience has been extremely meaningful for me.
Why did you want to be an AAE Ambassador?
When I was choosing a university, hearing directly from current students made a huge difference because they could answer the questions that a website or brochure couldn't. I wanted to become an AAE Ambassador so I could be that person for prospective students and families.
Favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus has to be the Loeb fountain on a sunny day. I love being around water, so it's one of my favorite places to relax and unwind between classes. It is my little reset spot on campus.
Favorite class you’ve taken thus far and why?
My favorite class I have taken so far is ME-200 - Thermodynamics. I really liked the structure of that class. The help sessions and TAs were really helpful and I loved exploring concepts related to fluids and engineering applications.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential AAE student?
One thing I would like to say is Don't feel like you need to have your entire aerospace career figured out before you arrive. Explore different areas, join organizations, talk to professors and upperclassmen, and take opportunities even when they are outside your comfort zone. Aerospace is incredibly broad, and college is where you get to discover what part of it excites you most.
Who is someone you look up to in the Aero/Astro industry and why?
The person I look up to is Amelia Earhart. I admire her courage to push boundaries in aviation at a time when very few women had opportunities in the field. Her adventurous spirit, determination, and willingness to take risks inspire me to step outside my comfort zone and pursue ambitious goals of my own.
What motivates you to succeed?
I am motivated by growth and by seeing what I am capable of when I challenge myself. Whether it is academics, research, an internship, or something completely new, I like looking back and realizing that something that once felt difficult has become something I can confidently do.
What is your ultimate career goal?
My ultimate goal is to work at the intersection of aerospace engineering and emerging technologies such as AI, helping develop smarter and more efficient aircraft or space systems. Long term, I would also love to lead projects or build something of my own that makes a meaningful contribution to the aerospace industry.
What do you like to do when you’re not studying/in the lab or classroom?
I love spending time with friends, exploring new places, playing soccer, traveling, trying new restaurants and cafes, listening to music, and having game nights. I also enjoy getting involved in different organizations around campus because some of my favorite Purdue memories have happened outside the classroom.
Favorite Fun Fact about Purdue?
Purdue is known as the "Cradle of Astronauts," and has produced more than two dozen astronauts, including Neil Armstrong. As an aerospace student, I think it is pretty amazing to walk around the same campus where so many people who eventually went to space once studied.
