Professor Lundstrom, the Scifres Distinguished Professor Of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the 2009 recipient of the IEEE Aldert van der Ziel Award. The award recognizes "a distinguished career in education and research."

Professor Lundstrom was presented with the award at the International Semiconductor Device Research Symposium awards banquet on Thursday December 10, 2009.

The van der Ziel Award was established in honor of Professor Aldert van der Ziel for his long and distinguished career as an educator and a research scientist. Past recipients of the Aldert van der Ziel Award include Arthur Milnes, Lester Eastman, Herbert Kroemer (Nobel Laureate), Michael Shur, Marvin H. White, James D. Plummer, and Ben Streetman.
