Photonic hypercrystals drastically enhance light emission in 2D materials

In 2014, ECE Professor Evgenii Narimanov introduced the concept of the photonic hypercrystal. Barely two years later, CUNY/Taiwan/Purdue experiment-theory collaboration brought them to the realm of practical devices and even used them to unlock the potential of novel 2D materials.

Emeritus Professor Larry Ogborn passes away

He earned his MSEE and PhD at Purdue in 1957 and 1961, respectively, and was in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering until his retirement in 2002.

Four ECE students place in annual Texas Instruments Innovation Challenge for their project, TrackRx

They took home the "best use of TI wireless technology" award. The students, who carried out the project as undergraduates, were team leader Jacob R. Stevens, who is entering a Purdue doctoral program; team members Erik Swan, who has graduated; Manik Singhal, who is entering a Purdue graduate program; and Everett Berry, who has graduated. They were advised by Dr. Matthew Swabey, Deputy Director of Instructional Laboratories.

ECE Alum Astronaut David Wolf speaks at Purdue Cancer Moonshot event

In January, President Barack Obama signed a Presidential Memorandum establishing a first-of-its-kind federal task force to end cancer as we know it and announced a new $1 billion initiative to jumpstart the Cancer Moonshot. As part of this initiative, the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research hosted a Cancer Moonshot Summit Wednesday (June 29) in the Herman and Heddy Kurz Atrium of the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering.

Purdue's Board of Trustees ratifies Professor Peide "Peter" Ye as Richard J. and Mary Jo Schwartz Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Professor Ye's research includes semiconductor and physics devices, nano-structures and nano-fabrications among other areas. His work in semiconductor technologies is recognized nationally and internationally, and he has been credited with a series of research breakthroughs. Each one was significant enough to be deemed "field-defining."
