Mark Lundstrom, the Don and Carol Scifres Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is one of two Purdue University faculty members chosen to lead the year-long festival of ideas that will be the centerpiece of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration in 2019.

A Purdue University student startup that provides musical backtracks for practice was accepted to compete in Student Startup Madness. Jose Moreno, a senior in Purdue’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and intern for the Purdue Foundry, founded One Man Band with Radomir Novkovich.

Purdue University is leading a new center to overcome the challenges of critical parts needed for low-power, high-performance computer chips in consumer electronics, vehicles and national security. The NEW LIMITS center is named for three aspects of a computer chip that the center's researchers aim to improve: NEW materials for LogIc, Memory and InTerconnectS.

Prof. Aly El Gamal has co-authored the book "Interference Management in Wireless Networks: Fundamental Bounds and the Role of Cooperation." The book details an information-theoretic approach to minimizing interference in 5G wireless networks.

Researchers at Purdue University, led by Tongcang Li, assistant professor of ECE and physics at Purdue have performed the first experimental tests of several fundamental theorems in thermodynamics, verifying the relationship between them and providing a better understanding of how nanoparticles behave under fluctuation.

Decorated NASA astronaut David Wolf will serve as a member of the new Users Advisory Group for the National Space Council. The group is sponsored by NASA and reports to the National Space Council on a range of issues.

The Purdue University chapter of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) has received the 2016-2017 IEEE-HKN Outstanding Chapter Award from the IEEE-HKN Board of Governors. The award is presented to IEEE-HKN chapters in recognition of excellence in their chapter administration and programs.

Professor Minghao Qi has been elected to the 2018 Fellows Class of The Optical Society (OSA). He is one of 101 OSA members to receive this honor for significant contributions to the advancement of optics and photonics. Qi was recognized “for creative and impactful contributions to nanophotonic fabrication and integrated nanophotonic devices.”

Purdue ECE PhD student Supriyo Maji is one of the winners of the 2017- 2018 Circuit Analysis and Design Contest, organized by the IEEE Solid State Circuit Society (SSCS). The goal of the contest was to engage both undergraduate and graduate students in thought provoking circuit analysis and design problems.

A team of faculty and students from Purdue’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering has won $750,000 at the first preliminary event of DARPA’s Spectrum Collaboration Challenge (SC2).
