Keysight Technologies provides equipment and training for new Purdue University lab
Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering has expanded its more than four-decade relationship with a leading electronics test and measurement equipment and software manufacturer. Keysight Technologies provided equipment and training for a new lab in the renovated Max W and Maileen Brown Family Hall (BHEE).
Throughout its partnership with Purdue ECE, Keysight has contributed significantly by donating or heavily subsidizing instrumentation purchases and providing cutting-edge equipment for educational and research purposes. As part of the transformation of BHEE, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the Fundamentals in Electrical Engineering Lab will be named The Keysight Electronics Lab.
"This gift by Keysight will be transformative,” says Milind Kulkarni, Michael and Katherine Birck Head and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “The state-of-the-art equipment in the new Keysight Lab, one of the centerpieces of the remodeled Brown Hall of EE, will enable the kinds of hands-on experiences that make our students the best-trained Electrical and Computer Engineers in the country."
The Keysight Electronics Lab features cutting-edge equipment generously provided by Keysight, including oscilloscopes, waveform generators, digital multimeters, and power supplies. Keysight will also offer ongoing training opportunities for students, enriching their educational experience within the lab.
“Keysight is committed to helping the next generation of innovators and this new laboratory provides students with hands-on training with the industrial-grade equipment they’ll encounter in the workforce,” says Douglas Baney, Keysight Corporate Director of Education. “They’ll be industry-ready upon graduation.”
The laboratory naming is just the latest show of support from Keysight, a member of Purdue ECE’s Corporate Partners Program, along with sponsoring a named professorship at the School. The company has been a partner in Purdue ECE education and research for over forty years, first as part of the Hewlett-Packard company, then as Agilent Technologies, and finally as Keysight.
In addition to The Keysight Electronics Lab, the renovated BHEE encompasses various spaces, including undergraduate instructional labs, collaborative graduate research spaces, student lounges, TA and student collaboration areas, upgraded facilities such as restrooms, and enhanced energy efficiency features. Naming opportunities are still available for several of these spaces.
BHEE offers world-class resources that foster flexibility and collaboration, tailored specifically for the needs of electrical and computer engineering students. Students began using the renovated space at the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester.
