Professor Alexandra Boltasseva was invited to speak, while Professor Peter Bermel was selected to participate. The very selective program accepts only an average of 35 out of 259 academic candidates every year. Professor Boltasseva was invited among only 15 total speakers at the event.

Meng Cui, a researcher at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute who will join Purdue in August, is the corresponding author of a research paper appearing this week (July 13) in the journal Nature Methods.

The Aristotle Award was created by the Semiconductor Research Corporation Board of Directors in March 1995 to recognize supported faculty whose deep commitment to the educational experience of SRC students has had a profound and continuing impact on their professional performance and consequently a significant impact for members over a long period of time.

This program brings together top 60 EECS graduate and postdoctoral women from USA and Europe who are interested in academia, for two days of scientific interactions and informal sessions. She is advised by Professor Muhammad A. Alam

The group, led by Professor Edward Delp, placed second in both Phase One and Phase Two. The work is part of the VACCINE DHS Center.

He received the award "for seminal contributions both to the theoretical framework and to the ground-breaking experimental realization of optical metamaterials."

The award honors those Purdue students who have excelled in the area of community service in the greater Lafayette area. These students often go unrecognized due to their nature as “servants” to their fellow citizens.

Mike Birck (BSEE ’60, DEA ’91, HDR ’95) passed away early morning of Monday July 6. Dr. Birck was an outstanding alumnus of ECE, and a great friend of ECE and Purdue. The Birck Nanotechnology Center, the ECE Headship, and two ECE named professorships proudly bear the Birck name.

Mike Birck will be missed.

The award was presented for the paper entitled "A VHF Tunable Lumped-Element Filter with Mixed Electric-Magnetic Couplings". The co-authors of the paper are Dr. Dimitra Psychogiou and Prof. Dimitrios Peroulis.
