Professor Saurabh Bagchi has been accepted as an ACM Distinguished Scientist. He was nominated by Professor Mikhail Atallah in Purdue's Department of Computer Science.

The ACM Distinguished Member Recognition Program, initiated in 2006, recognizes those members with at least 15 years of professional experience who have made significant accomplishments or achieved a significant impact on the computing field. Distinguished Member is a member grade recognizing up to 10% of the top ACM members. In 2012, ACM elevated 41 of its members to Distinguished Member status. Professor Bagchi was nominated for laying the software basis for designing distributed systems that can tolerate faults under a variety of operating conditions.
