Registration Process for Current ECE Students
All students are now required to meet with their academic advisor regarding their registration process.
Prior to meeting with your advisor, all ECE students must create/update their Student Educational Planner (SEP) in MyPurduePlan from the current semester forward to the completion of their degree. Once their SEP is complete, students will submit a Student Registration Profile (SRP) to submit the SEP for review by their advisor. Designated weeks have been pre-assigned for completion of this process based on a student's classification as listed in MyPurdue; however, priority students do not fit this policy so please know your status. Students who do not complete their SEP and submit their SRP during the time period specified will have their plan reviewed as time allows which could delay their registration process and risk not getting into the needed class(es).
When to complete SEP & SRP:
Priority & Seniors: January 27 - February 11
Juniors: February 14 - 25
Sophomores: February 28 - March 11
Once a student's SEP is approved, they will receive an email directing them to schedule an appointment with their primary advisor during the specified times listed below. To guarantee a student is prepared for their registration process, their SEP must be completed during their designated time listed above and allow no less than 5 business days to be reviewed.
Meeting the above deadline will ensure the student's eligibility to set up an appointment during the following weeks to complete registration preparation with their advisor:

-
Determine the remaining courses you need to take to fulfill degree requirements by utilizing the worksheet in myPurduePlan. If you feel there are errors on the worksheet, please consult your academic advisor.
-
Review some Common Plan of Study Issues to help ensure you are creating a viable plan. Failure to address these items typically will result in a request to resubmit your SEP.
-
Use the SEP Instructions to create/update your SEP (note: Google Chrome may not work properly).
-
All students who plan to fulfill degree requirements in Spring 2022, Summer 2022 or Fall 2022 must Apply to Graduate in myPurdue under Destination: Graduation immediately. Purdue is now asking us to secure these lists a year ahead of time, so make sure you complete this step if you are graduating in any of the previously mentioned terms.
-
Once your Student Educational Planner is complete and ready for review, you must submit a Student Registration Profile. This step will alert your advisor that your SEP is ready for review.
-
Your academic advisor needs a minimum of 5 business days to review your plan prior to you scheduling your appointment. This is important to keep in mind as you could run out of time so plan ahead!
-
Once your advisor reviews your SEP, you will receive an email with a link to schedule your required meeting during your pre-determined weeks.
-
During your registration meeting you will discuss future workloads, possible experiential learning opportunities, preparation for post-graduation and any issues/concerns you want to talk about. Immediately following your meeting, your advisor will open your Course Request Form in Unitimes and send you an email with your Registration PIN. If you do not receive this email by 5 p.m. on the day of your meeting, please reach out to them.

If you need assistance on how to enter courses into the CRF, please watch this video for guidance. Remember to put the most critical course at the top of the form and work your way down. Also, if you are planning to take ECE 47700, do not put it on the CRF as you will register for that course at a later time. If you do put it on your CRF, you will not be allowed in and it could hold up your entire schedule. You will be receiving an email once the CRF is open as well as the close date, at which time you will not be able to add/modify the courses.

Registration Process for T2M Students
All students planning to transition to the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the end of the current semester are required to create a SEP (Student Education Plan) in MyPurduePlan, Submit an SRP (Student Registration Profile) survey, and attend a group orientation meeting. In some circumstances, a student may need to hold an individual meeting with and advisor which will be determined as they go through the registration process. T2M students will be sent an email to view a "How-To" video on creating an SEP and submitting an SRP. Once that step is completed, an invitation to register for an orientation will be sent through BoilerConnect. Students who do not complete these steps in the correct order will be seen by an ECE academic advisor as time permits which could lead to a delay in their registration process and not getting into the needed class(es).
-
View the video sent by the ECE Undergraduate Office which provides instructions on completing the SEP/SRP Process. Additional help may be found on the SEP Instructions to create/update your SEP (note: Google Chrome may not work properly).
-
Once the SEP (Student Education Plan) is complete and ready for review, students must submit an SRP (Student Registration Profile). T2M students use this SRP link. This step will alert an advisor that the SEP is ready for review.
-
The SEP will be reviewed by an ECE Academic Advisor once the SRP is received. An academic advisor needs a minimum of 5 business days to review a plan so keep this in mind to ensure all deadlines are met.
-
Once an advisor reviews the SEP, the student will receive an email with further instructions on the next steps. This could be to fix an error on the SEP, or direct the student to register for an Orientation Meeting in the upcoming weeks.
-
Students will attend an Orientation Meeting to meet ECE advisors and learn more on how to get involved outside of the classroom, what ECE organizations are available, and how to gain experiential learning.
-
After the meeting, an advisor will import the courses listed on the student's SEP into the Advisor Recommendation Form and open the student's Course Request Form. At this time, students may change the order of preference for each course, but no major changes should be made without discussing it with an ECE advisor. Students may find assistance on how to use the Course Request Form by watching this video for guidance. Remember to put the most critical course at the top of the form and work down. Students will receive an email once the CRF is open as well as the close date, at which time they will not be able to add/modify the courses. The email will also include the Registration PIN for the student to use during open registration.

ECE Wait List
If you need in an ECE course or section that is currently closed or if there is a conflict with another required course, please complete the ECE Wait List request and you will be contacted by our office as soon as information is available.
The wait list should be utilized only when you are unable to fit a course into your schedule, either due to it being full or because of a time-conflict. Every attempt should be made to work out a schedule, even if you have to choose a section that is not your first choice; you can always make changes later should a space appear in your preferred section. You should not fill out the wait list to try to get into a more ‘desirable’ section of a course. If you need further assistance, please contact the ECE Undergraduate Advising Office at 494-3390 or stop by MSEE 140.
Override Requests
If you are an ECE student or non-ECE student who is getting an error when adding a course to your schedule, please complete the override request in Scheduling Assistant and your request will be reviewed by the ECE staff. Once your request has been processed, you will be notified via email with the results.
-
Foreign Language Courses
- Students planning on enrolling for the first time in a foreign language course who have taken 2 years or more of that language in high school must take the language placement exam. Students who have no previous courses in a language or who have less than 2 years of language study may fill out the override request through Scheduling Assistant to request to start at the 10100 level if departmental permission is required for enrollment.
-
Wine Appreciation (FS 47000)
- Students can request the override through Unitime once their time ticket is open. Students must bring a driver's license or passport to the Food Science Department (NLSN Rm 2203) to verify that the student will be 21 years old by the date specified by the FS Department. If a student brings his or her ID prior to the opening of the time ticket, the override will be placed in Banner.
Entering Transfer Students
Entering transfer students should have been working with ECE and have all their transfer credits reviewed before registering for courses. Once it has been determined if and how these credits will be used toward one of the ECE degrees, the student will be provided with a schedule recommendation and their Registration PIN number. Detailed instructions for registration can be found here for using myPurdue.
