Spring 2019 Spark Challenge

Priority: No
College Calendar: Show

The Spring 2019 Spark Challenge will be held on Friday, April 26th in the Co-Rec Gym from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

This event is a campus-wide, corporate-sponsored design demonstration and competition, hosted by the School of Electricl and Computer Engineering in partnership with the ECE Student Society and General Motors.  In addition, other corporation sponsors will be present to network with students regardless if they are participating in the event, so all ECE students are encouraged to attend!

The Spark Challenge is open to all undergraduate students in any discipline at Purdue University, and can be an individual entry or a team of up to four members.  It allows students to present their projects in one of two ways:

  1. demonstration  only or,
  2. demonstration and competition in the challenge which will be judged by ECE faculty and corporate sponsors.

This results in networking with representatives from some of the top leading industries in the nation, acting as a gateway to prospective employers  In addition, it provides an opportunity for students from any and all majors to collaborate in developing various projects and technical skills.

All participants, demonstration or competition, must pre-register for the event at the following link:  https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eD9UtoVaXhRrvNj

PLEASE NOTE:  As our numbers have increased over the years, an important change to this semester’s event is that teams who wish to participate in the challenge must upload a 3-minute video for pre-judging before the day of the event. Those entries will be narrowed down and team members will meet with judges from ECE faculty as well as company representatives to determine the winner. For those teams participating as a demonstration (and possibly for extra credit for some courses), you must also pre-register for the event.

Details for the challenge requirements and video information can be found on the ECESS Spark Challenge website:  https://engineering.purdue.edu/ECESS/spark
