My name is Dennis Jensen, I support the Advanced Analytics Group in Engility's Space Systems Account. We provide specialized engineering, analysis, and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. I wanted to inform you and your students about some internship and job opportunities my group has available.

The Advanced Analytics Group has multiple openings for both R&D interns and entry level R&D engineers to perform mission analysis and technical advisory services to an IC customer. This customer is developing the next generation of space systems and ground architectures for national security.  Both jobs are located in Chantilly, VA (near Washington DC).

The Advanced Analytics group contains dozens of personnel with diverse backgrounds and skills. In addition, the group has a large presence of young professionals that are eager to assist and mentor interns or new employees. The group has hosted dozens of interns over the last several years. Many of them, return for a second internship or accept a full-time position upon graduation.

Below is some information regarding the type of work we do, the areas of interest, and qualifications.

Roles and responsibilities potentially include:

• Work side-by-side with existing subject matter experts in orbital mechanics, spacecraft design, optics, Radio Frequency (RF), and modeling and simulation
• Develop modeling and simulation tools to assist with analysis of complex, technical problems relating to a wide variety of spacecraft and systems
• Work with the customer to explore new missions, Concept of Operations (CONOPs), and architectures to solve some of the hardest intelligence problems facing the nation
• Develop algorithms to perform analysis and produce much-needed data products
• Maintain and improve large scale simulations to support multiple missions
• Integrate existing models from mission partners into simulations
• Model dynamic agent behaviors
• Evaluate complex results and determine engineering recommendations based on analysis
• Quickly translate user needs into effective software solutions
• Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status, brief government and industry as required

Required Qualifications:

• Completion or pursuit (depending on position) of BS in relevant degree field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science
• Software development experience, ideally in modeling and simulation
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
• Must be willing and able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance including polygraph

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience using C, Python, R, SQL, postgreSQL, linux, TCL/Tk, MATLAB, and/or STK
• Experience modeling and simulating complex systems
• Previous internship or work experience
