Please visit http://www.spacex.com/hyperloop to learn more about the 2018 Hyperloop Pod Competition.
For those of you unfamiliar with the competition, in August 2013, SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk released a white paper on the Hyperloop, his concept of high-speed ground transport. In order to accelerate the development of functional prototypes and encourage student innovation, SpaceX announced the Hyperloop Pod Competition in 2015, which challenges university teams to design and build the best transport Pod. The first two competitions were held in January and August 2017 and were the first of their kind anywhere in the world.
SpaceX is moving forward with a third installment of the competition: the 2018 Hyperloop Pod Competition. The competition will focus on a single criterion – maximum speed. Additionally, all Pods must be self-propelled, though there is a Levitation “sub-competition.”
The competition will take place in summer 2018 and is open to both new and returning student teams.
To register, please have your students review the 2018 Rules and Requirements that are attached and submit an Intent to Compete Form (https://spacex.wufoo.com/forms/spacex-hyperloop-competition-intent-to-compete) by 5pm PT on September 29, 2017.
