Laser focused innovation: Martinez receives patent for new nanomanufacturing technique

When Purdue BME Assistant Professor Ramses Martinez started exploring ways to make metallic nanostructures faster and more affordably, he didn't think he would have made a new process. Now, his work has received a patent for a roll to roll techniques that simplifies how these structures are made. Making them more practical for real world applications like flexible electronics and medical devices.

Graduate Student Cortland Johns Awarded Prestigious Chateaubriand Fellowship

Cortland Johns, a PhD student in Purdue’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, has been awarded a 2025–2026 STEM Chateaubriand Fellowship, a prestigious international scholarship funded by the Embassy of France in the United States. The award will support Johns as she travels to France to conduct part of her doctoral research in collaboration with a French research team.

Hazar Benan Unal Earns Top MRI Research Honor at ISMRM 2025

The Weldon School is proud to celebrate Hazar Benan Unal, a postdoctoral research associate in Behzad Sharif’s group who has earned a Magna Cum Laude Merit Award from the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). His abstract selected from over 10,000 global submissions was honored for its scientific impact and is a top 3 finalist for Best Overall Abstract in the Cardiac category at this year’s conference.
