Ushering in a new era of leadership in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, the Purdue Board of Trustees approved the promotion to full professor of six faculty members: Sherry Voytik-Harbin, Michael Heinz, Pedro Irazoqui, Zheng Ouyang, Jenna Rickus, and Ann Rundell. This cadre of senior faculty represents more than half of the promotions to full professor this year in the entire Purdue College of Engineering. They are each recognized innovators in their fields with noteworthy impact in translational research and superlative teaching.

Review for a term beginning July 01, 2015 and ending June 30, 2019.

The 5th Summer Workshop on Spectroscopic Imaging takes place at Purdue University July 9-10. The workshop will showcase the most recent advances in the development and applications of spectroscopic imaging platforms and offer lab training of label-free imagining technologies.

Tom Talavage, professor of biomedical engineering and professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been named a Purdue University Faculty Scholar for 2015-2020. The University Faculty Scholars Program recognizes outstanding faculty members at the West Lafayette campus who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

Weldon School graduate student Rebecca Bercich (Pedro Irazoqui, advisor) received the Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching award, which recognizes top teaching assistants at Purdue.

Michael R. Ladisch, Distinguished Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, was awarded Purdue's Morrill Award for demonstrating excellence in teaching, research and engagement missions, as well as in demonstrating synergies among them.

A preeminent research team led by Pedro P. Irazoqui, director of Purdue’s Center for Implantable Devices, associate professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and associate professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is making progress in developing wireless implantable medical devices for treatment of a variety of conditions using wireless networks of nanoelectronic sensors and actuators.

The Weldon School is proud to announce that three of our students were named recipients of NSF Graduate Research Fellowships, and two received honorable mentions. In addition, two undergraduate students were awarded Charles C. Chappelle Fellowships.

Sherry Harbin, an associate professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Basic Medical Sciences, and founder of GeniPhys, is commercializing her laboratory's innovative collagen formulations that self-assemble or polymerize to form fibrils that resemble those found in the body's tissues.
