Why I chose Purdue?
I wanted to attend a university that was academically prestigious. Out of all the great engineering schools in the Midwest, Purdue is a perfect distance from home and offers in – state tuition.

Why I chose Engineering and BME?
Engineering is great way to use my math and science skills to help others and improve lives. Engineers are real – world problem solvers, and I thoroughly enjoy solving puzzles and putting all the pieces together. Growing up, I also loved learning about the body and how it works. BME allows me to combine these two passions and help me develop a diverse set of skills.

Extra-curricular activities:
I currently serve as President for Purdue’s Women’s Volleyball Club. We travel around the Midwest for our tournaments and host one at Purdue as well! I am also a member of Purdue’s Club Sports Council; we work with our authorities to ensure the best experience for all club sports. Lastly, I’m a teaching assistant for the freshman engineering courses. As a TA, I help the new engineers effectively solve their given problems.

Engineering-related experience/CO-OP/Intern/Research:
I attended the 2 – week Cardiovascular Mini Course at IU Methodist during the summer of 2015. I witnessed procedures a wide variety of procedures, ranging from open heart surgery to the placement of a femoral stent. We also engaged with industry representatives to learn about the current medical devices being used to help patients.

Post-graduation plans:
I plan to go into industry after graduation.
