Why I chose Purdue?
I chose Purdue because the university is uniquely able to combine excellent academics with an energetic atmosphere. It has the big university opportunities but with a small campus feel. In addition, the Weldon School is well respected and has a great reputation for preparing its engineers for industry. I knew that I would be able to enjoy my college career and come out of it with a strong degree.

Why I chose Engineering and BME?
Growing up, I always thought I wanted to be a cardiologist. However, high school showed me that my passion lies in problem solving. Biomedical engineering is the perfect career for me to apply engineering skills and creativity to the medical field and ultimately improve the quality of life for others.

Extra-curricular activities:
BME Ambassador, Women in Engineering I2D2 K-5 outreach program, Timmy Global Health, Boiler Gold Rush Team Leader, intramural sports

Engineering-related experience/CO-OP/Intern/Research:
I completed a yearlong co-op with Cook Research where I conducted non-clinical testing of medical devices such as stents and catheters. During the summer of 2014, I worked at NASA Glenn Research Center where I collaborated with the Cleveland Clinic to develop instrumentation for surgery replacement surgery. I also completed a Maymester study abroad in Ireland, which focused on biomedical design and ethics.

Post-graduation plans:
After graduation, I plan to enter the biomedical industry with an interest in cardiovascular medical device development. I am considering the option of returning to school for my MS or MBA after gaining some industry experience.
