The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion at 3:30 p.m. “Does Image Analysis Have a Future in the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning World?” In this panel we will discuss where image analysis is headed in the brave new AI/ML world. Will we even need cameras when we can just “generate” whatever image we need? How does this impact hardware systems? What will students in the future who are interested in “imaging” need to know? The panel will be moderated by Edward Delp, Charles William Harrison Distinguished Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Professor of Biomedical Engineering. Panelists include Qi Guo, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Fengqing Maggie Zhu, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Greg Buzzard, Professor of Mathematics, and Melba M. Crawford, Nancy Uridil and Frank Bossu Distinguished Professor in Civil Engineering.
