Irazoqui receives 2019 Faculty Excellence Award for Research

Pedro P. Irazoqui, Reilly Professor of Biomedical Engineering and interim head of Electrical and Computer Engineering, received the Purdue College of Engineering Faculty Excellence Award for Research. The award honors faculty for an exceptional recent research contribution that has had significant impact on the discipline and/or society.

Irazoqui was recognized for the development of the ioNode device, an ultra-miniature contact lens system that is poised to greatly improve treatment for people with glaucoma. Irazoqui was honored at the College of Engineering's 17th Faculty Awards of Excellence Dinner, which was held Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Shively Club, Ross-Ade Pavilion.

All newly approved or ratified distinguished and named faculty were also recognized at the event, including four faculty members from the Weldon School. Tamara Kinzer-Ursem and Jacqueline Linnes were named Marta E. Gross Assistant Professors of Biomedical Engineering and Sarah Calve and Craig Goergen were named Leslie A. Geddes Assistant Professors of Biomedical Engineering, all for their exceptional accomplishments and leadership in research, teaching, and engagement.
