Two outstanding staff members receive Bravo Award
Asem is the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering’s instructional laboratory coordinator, responsible for overseeing daily instructional laboratory operations. He has contributed to the curriculum development of the laboratory courses, student lectures, and maintaining all of the laboratory spaces to facilitate an environment conducive to learning. In the year that Asem has worked with the school, he has demonstrated both initiative and dedication. Asem has assimilated himself into the school while simultaneously shaping the experience of students and faculty alike, helping to foster growth for the school as a whole.
Jo serves as the intra/extramural relations administrator, responsible for overseeing critical processes from faculty recruitment to developing and organizing events for the Weldon School. Through her 15 years of working in biomedical engineering, Jo has never failed to exhibit a diligent work ethic and has provided substantial contributions toward achieving the mission of the school. Beyond providing leadership for and oversight of the school’s staff, Jo also serves as a mentor to student groups within the school and also to the Purdue Drumline. She is also an officer in Purdue’s Phi Beta Kappa chapter.
The Bravo award is granted to Purdue faculty and staff that have made significant accomplishments beyond their intended duties. This award is designed to provide recognition for those that have contributed to one or more of these four areas: moving the university forward, operational excellence, innovation and creativity, and fiscal stewardship. Both Asem and Jo have made significant strides in these areas, embracing Purdue’s mission and demonstrating excellence within the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
Bravo and many thanks to Asem and Jo!
