Kinzer-Ursem receives Outstanding Alumni Award

Tamara Kinzer-Ursem, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded the 2015 Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Toledo Bioengineering Department. The award recognizes alumni from the UT College of Engineering that have made significant contributions to their respective fields.

As part of the recognition, Kinzer-Ursem gave a talk to bioengineering undergraduate and graduate students attending the University of Toledo on her career path in research and academia. The day’s events also included lunch with faculty, a tour of the college, and a recognition program and award ceremony.

Kinzer-Ursem obtained a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of Toledo, master's and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from University of Michigan, and has completed postdoctoral training in Biology at Caltech.  Her research laboratory is focused at the intersection of engineering, systems biology, and biochemistry. Current research entails the utilization of protein engineering techniques in conjunction with mathematical models to study protein signaling in the context of larger signaling networks.

The University of Toledo has recognized Kinzer-Ursem’s diligent work in research, academia and the steadfast effort that she has put forth to generate such notable contributions.  The Weldon School is honored to have Kinzer-Ursem on our faculty, and we celebrate this achievement with her. Congratulations!
