Professional Masters Enters Second Year

Collaboration in lab space
Enrollment is up 75% from last year in the distance option for the Biomedical Engineering Concentration in the Purdue Master of Science in Engineering (MSE/MS). The program enters its second year engaging many new and experienced engineers from across campus and across the country in the rapidly evolving field of Biomedical Engineering.

Weldon Assistant Head of Academic Affairs, Andrew Brightman, worked diligently with multiple people at Cook Biotech and other Cook Group agencies to develop and execute a curriculum with an emphasis on practical regulatory affairs at both the initial approval and later compliance stages. The program in quality and regulatory compliance prepares students for rapid integration into regulatory affairs teams in this critical and dynamic area of biomedical engineering.

“This has been a great class. Definitely beneficial and applicable to my career. I've learned a lot and enjoyed the real world perspective integrated into the compliance requirements. I also think the distance aspect was successful. I wish I would have been able to join you for an in-class visit, but nonetheless - enjoyed the overall experience.” Distance Learning Student/Engineer

Courses taken from Purdue University are available primarily through streaming video over the internet and downloadable MPEG-4 files. Courses include Preclinical and Clinical Study Design, Regulatory Compliance for Biomedical Devices, Regulatory Issues Surrounding Approval of Biomedical Devices, Tissue Engineering, and Quantitative Physiology, among others.
