Julie Martin Receives SIGMA XI Honorable Mention

Event Date: May 6, 2003

Julie Martin received an honorable mention award in the engineering sciences division of the campus-wide Sigma Xi poster competition. Sigma Xi, an international honor society of scientific and engineering research, sponsored the graduate student research competition. Students prepared an abstract and presented a poster at the competition in late February.

Julie's poster, entitled "Altered Function in Renal Cells in Response to Elevated Hydrostatic Pressures," was based on her research work done under the supervision of Professors Hiroki Yokota and Karen Haberstroh.

Out of 20 posters entered in the engineering sciences division, 9 were from graduate students in Biomedical Engineering, giving BME the largest representation of any school or department at Purdue. The other students participating in the poster competition were Yunlong Liu, Jennifer McCann, Janice McKenzie, Derick Miller, Dorjderem Nyamjav, Grace Park, Rachel Price, and Meng Yu.

Congratulations go out to all of our BME students for a job well done!
