Purdue Materials Engineering Moves Up in Latest National Rankings
The Purdue University School of Materials Engineering has risen one spot in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, now tied for No. 11 nationally among graduate materials engineering programs. The improvement reflects the program’s continued upward momentum in recent years as Purdue strengthens its graduate education and research enterprise.  
 
The School’s rise comes as Purdue’s College of Engineering reaches its highest placement in the current rankings, earning a No. 4 overall national ranking and No. 2 among public institutions. The College also remains one of the most consistently top-ranked engineering programs in the country. 
 
The annual U.S. News rankings evaluate graduate engineering programs nationwide using criteria such as peer assessments, research activity, and program resources, highlighting institutions that demonstrate sustained excellence and impact.
