MSE Faculty Help Drive $7M PERC Award to Advance Energetic Materials

The Purdue Energetics Research Center recently received $7M to modernize manufacturing processes for energetic materials — explosives, pyrotechnics and propellants. 'PERC' is powered by experts across campus, including Materials Engineering Professors David Bahr, Alejandro Strachan, and Davin Piercey. They focus on how materials perform in extreme environments, how to better model complex systems, and the development and manufacturing of emerging energetic technologies. Together with colleagues across Purdue, the team is helping define the future of energetic materials.
