MSE students can spend a semester or a year overseas via the Study Abroad Program while simultaneously earning Purdue credit.   • Is it expensive to study abroad?
    It can be as expensive as you want to make it. The personal travel you do usually determines the amount of money you will spend. The cost of living is comparable to living at Purdue. In some cities, however, it can vary greatly. The tuition and fees are the same as Purdue.
  • Does financial aid apply to study abroad?
    Yes. If you receive financial aid now, you will receive it when you study abroad. If you don't qualify for financial aid now, your new cost of program is taken into consideration.
  • Will my classes transfer back to Purdue?
    Yes. These programs are specifically designed with our students in mind. You will receive Purdue credit and grade for all courses taken overseas.
  • When should I study abroad?
    Most programs encourage study abroad during the sophomore, junior or senior years. There are summer programs and semester programs to choose from.
  • What academic eligibility is needed for me to study abroad?
    An eligible student is one who meets the GPA minimum.
  • Do I have to speak a foreign language to study abroad?
    No. There are countries that require a foreign language, but many do not.
  • Can I study a foreign language while abroad?
    Yes. It is a great time to become more fluent in a language.
  • How long do I study abroad?
    There are several programs. Summer-long and Semester-long programs are available.
  • Where will I live?
    Students choose between on- of off-campus dormitories, shared apartments, or with a host family.
