Accelerated Path to MS Degree: Complete a Master’s degree within one year of earning your Bachelor’s, saving time and tuition.

Seamless Transition: Move smoothly from undergraduate to graduate studies with continuity in curriculum, advising, and campus resources.

Criteria for Admission

Guidelines:

  • Open only to Purdue MSE undergraduate students;
  • Students must complete all MSE 300-level courses by the Spring semester before starting Senior Design and be eligible to enter their final two semesters;
  • No particular grade point average automatically entitles a student to admission;
  • Up to 12 credits of graduate-level coursework can be dual-counted for both your BS and MS degree as long as both degree requirements are being met and grades are a B or better.

Admission recommendations:

  • 3.0 grade point average or higher in undergraduate studies

Important Dates

  • May 1 Pre-application Deadline
  • June 1 Decisions issued for pre-application
  • Aug 1 Deadline for the Graduate Application to be submitted to the Graduate School: Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS).

Pre-Application Requirements

Submit the following materials to the MSE Graduate Office at son39@purdue.edu:

Students will be notified by the MSE Graduate Office in early June if they have been accepted into the program. If so, the student will be instructed to submit the Purdue University Graduate School application on or before August 1 of their senior year. BS/MS students will have dual status as undergraduate and graduate students and therefore will be eligible for undergraduate financial aid until they have completed all of the BS degree requirements. Students are also eligible for financial aid for the MS portion of their degree, if needed. This is a self-funded master's program and is not an intended path to a PhD.
