  • The School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering divided into three divisions

1952

  • Professor John L. Bray dies

1953

  • George A. Hawkins became the Dean of Engineering succeeding Andrey A. Potter, who retired.
  • The three divisions of Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Engineering Geology of the School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering were officially recognized.

1954

  • Reinhardt Schuhmann, Jr. joined the School of Chemical and Metallurgical Enginering as Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Richard E. Grace, graduate of class of 1951, joined the faculty of the School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.

1956

  • The John L. Bray award was set up to recognize the outstanding senior.

1958

  • Peter G. Winchell joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • R.E. Grace was promoted to Associate Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.

1959

  • The Division of Metallurgical Engineering became a separate school with the name of School of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • A new metallurgical engineering curriculum for the bachelor’s degree requiring 141 credits became effective.
  • Professor Reinhardt Schuhmann, Jr. became the founding Head of the School of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • An undergraduate curriculum with Materials Science option with a total credit of 147 hours was made available to sophomores.
  • Gerald L. Liedl joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.

1960

  • Professor Albert G. Guy left Purdue to join the faculty of University of Florida.
  • Williams C. Phelps joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Professor Pekka Rautala left Purdue and returned to his country, Finland.

1961

  • Malcolm T. Hepworth joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.

1962

  • Richard E. Grace was promoted to Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Peter Winchell was promoted to Associate Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Prof. Richard E. Grace received the Bradley-Stoughton young teacher’s award from the American Society for metals.

1963

  • Prof. R. Schuhmann, Jr. was elected as a Charter Fellow of AIME.
  • Paul B. Eaton was promoted to Associate Professor of Metal Processing.

1964

  • Prof. R.Schuhmann, Jr. stepped down from the headship of the school. He was appointed as a Distinguished Professor with the title of Ross Professor of Engineering.
  • Prof. Richard E. Grace became the Interim Head of the School of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Malcolm T. Hepworth was promoted to Associate Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Samuel J. Hruska was hired as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering.

1965

  • The name of the School was changed to School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Prof. Richard E. Grace became Head of the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • James R. Cost was hired as Associate Professor of Materials science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Gerald L. Liedl was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Williams C. Phelps, Jr. was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • A new interdisciplinary program in materials awarding the degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering was developed by the faculty.

1966

  • Prof. R.Schuhmann, Jr. spent a sabbatical year at the Ohio State University as Battelle Visiting Professor.
  • Mysore A. Dayananda was appointed as Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and placed in charge of the first electron microprobe analyzer acquired by the university.
  • Robert W. Vest joined the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering as Professor of Engineering with joint appointment with the School of Electrical Engineering under the sponsorship of Basil Turner Foundation.
  • The Turner laboratory for Electroceramics was established for graduate students of Electrical Engineering and Materials Science & Metallurgical Engineering.
  • A cooperative Engineering Education Program in the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering was approved by the Board of Trustees.

1967

  • Prof. Peter G. Winchell spent a sabbatical year at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.
  • The Briney Achievement Award was set up by the friends of late Robert Briney (Ch.E. 1924 and President of Stellite Division of Union Carbide) to recognize outstanding performance among the beginning graduate students.
  • Richard J. Grosh succeeded George A. Hawkins as the Dean of Engineering.

1968

  • Prof. Malcolm T. Hepworth spent a spring semester at the United States Bureau of Mines Station, Reno, Nevada.
  • Peter G. Winchell was promoted to Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Samuel J. Hruska was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.

1969

  • Thomas F. Kassner of Argonne National Laboratory, IL spent a semester in the school as Visiting Associate Professor sharing his expertise on nuclear materials.
  • Professor Paul W. Case retired after 37 years of service at Purdue.
  • Richard E. Grace founded the Division of Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies and became its Acting Head, while remaining Head of the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Robert H. Spitzer joined the MSE faculty as Associate Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Gerald L. Liedl was appointed as Assistant Head of the School.
  • Professor R.W. Vest received the Ross Coffin Purdy Award from the American Ceramic Society.
  • Professor Reinhardt Schuhmann, Jr. received the 1969 James Douglas Gold Medal Award from AIME.
  • Malcolm T. Hepworth, Associate Professor, resigned to accept a new position at the University of Denver.
  • The MSE undergraduate enrollment reached a high of 89 students.

1970

  • R.E. Grace became the Head of the Division of Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies.
  • James R. Cost was promoted to Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering. He was also appointed to the Alcoa Foundation Chair.
  • Mysore A. Dayananda was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Philip J. Tobin was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Helen Geise retired after 39 years of service to Purdue and the MSE School.

1971

  • Purdue President Frederick L. Hovde retired and Dr. Arthur G. Hansen took over as the eighth President.
  • A new scanning electron microscope, first of its kind at Purdue, was installed in the Met.E. School.

1972

  • John C. Hancock succeeded Richard J. Grosh as the Dean of Engineering.
  • Robert W. Vest was appointed the first Basil S. Turner Professor of Engineering.
  • Professor C.T. Marek retired after 35 years of service at the University.
  • Professor Williams C. Phelps passed away after a brief illness.
  • Professor R. E. Grace stepped down from the headship of the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, but continued to be Head, Division of Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies.

1973

  • Robert W. Vest was appointed as Acting Head of the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • The name of the School was changed to School of Materials Engineering.
  • Associate Professor John F. Radavich was transferred to the School of Materials Engineering from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics
  • Associate Professor Paul B. Eaton accepted a joint appointment with the School of Industrial Engineering.
  • Gerald L. Liedl was promoted to Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Geraldine O. Deputy was appointed as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering in joint appointment with the School of Freshman Engineering.
  • Professor Peter. G. Winchell obtained a dual appointment with the Indiana University School of Dentistry
  • Five-week period mini-courses under the title MSE 595 were first offered.
  • A new course MSE 540 on “High Temperature Materials” was first taught by Professor Radavich.

1974

  • Professor James R. Cost was on sabbatical at the Centre d’Etudes Nucleares at Grenoble, France.
  • James N. Cordea from Armco Steel Corporation and Dennis Quinto from Inland Steel Company spent a year at the School as Visiting Associate Professors.
  • A new service course MSE 345 on Selection of Materials for Mechanical functions was offered to mechanical engineering students.
  • Robert W. Vest was appointed Head of the School.
  • The MSE School sponsored an International Symposium on Electronic Properties of Oxides/Applications & Science.
  • Assistant Professor P. J. Tobin resigned to take up a position with Motorola, Phoenix, Arizona
  • Hiroshi Sato was hired as Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Samuel J. Hruska was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.

1975

  • Professor R. Schuhmann, Jr. received the 1975 AIME Mineral Industry Education Award.
  • Professor Sato offered a completely revised course MSE 550 “Properties of Solids”.
  • Mysore A. Dayananda was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • An undergraduate seminar course was initiated and incorporated in the undergraduate curriculum

1976

  • Walter D. Coker, Arvid H. Sorenson, James W. Dobbin, Grant G. Owen from Alcoa taught minicourses on Al alloys, their fabrication and properties as Adjunct Professors. B. H. Rosof and H. J. Kline from Cabot Corporation taught a minicourse on processing of superalloys as Adjunct Professors.
  • Geraldine O. Deputy (Geraldine M. Vest after June 1982) received the prestigious Potter Award for the best of engineering teachers from the School of Engineering.
  • Professor R. Schuhmann, Jr. was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
  • Willis S. Schalliol was hired part time as Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.

1977

  • James R. Cost resigned to take up a position in Sandia National Laboratory.
  • The MSE undergraduate enrollment was at a high level with 32 sophomores, 35 juniors, and 25 seniors.

1978

  • A new scanning transmission electron microscope, STEM, (JEOL-200CX) and a new X-ray nondispersive analyzer were acquired for research on the structure and analysis of materials. A fully automated computer controlled four circle goniometer x-ray diffraction system was also purchased and designed for detailed studies of martensitic phase transformations by Professor Peter G. Winchell. A high temperature X-ray diffractometer attachment was also acquired. In addition, a new multiple-testing mechanical testing system (MTS unit) was also purchased.
  • MSE courses 210 and 210L became required courses for the students of the School of Nuclear Engineering.
  • A patent was issued to Prof. R, Schuhmann, Jr. related to his coal research.
  • A centralized counseling office with student services was organized under the direction of Mrs. Rene Cannock.
  • Robert Staley was named the Laboratory Coordinator for the teaching and service laboratories.
  • The Turner Laboratory for Electroceramics under the direction of Professor R.W. Vest and the Coal Research Laboratory under R. Schuhmann, Jr. were moved to the Potter building.
  • Gerald L. Liedl became the Head of the School of Materials Engineering
  • Geraldine O. Deputy ( Geraldine M. Vest after June 1982) was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Donna Bystrom joined the School as the Administrative Assistant to the Head.

1979

  • Dr. Nobuo Otsuka from Tokyo Institute of technology was hired to assist in the use of the new STEM as Post-Doctoral Research Associate and to aid Professors Sato and Liedl in their research on multiply periodic crystal structures and superionic conduction materials.
  • A high temperature source for skull melting of high melting point materials was acquired.

1980

  • Professor M.A. Dayananda spent the year on sabbatical as Visiting Professor at the Institute fur Metallforschung of Munster University on a grant awarded by Deusche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
  • Professor Liedl was selected to be in charge of directing a group of Midwest Universities and Argonne National Laboratory (MATRIX) to design an x-ray port on the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven.
  • Professor H. Sato was on leave at the Universities of Hannover and Gottingen on a Humboldt US Senior Scientist Award.
  • Professor R.Schuhmann, Jr. retired as Distinguished Professor Emeritus but continued to work.
  • The School initiated a Materials Research Industrial Institute to promote communication and interactions with companies. The Institute members provided several industrial problems for inclusion in the senior design projects.

1981

  • Professor Peter G. Winchell passed away unexpectedly due to a heart attack.
  • Professor R.E. Grace was appointed as Head of the Department of Freshman Engineering.
  • Thomas H. Sanders, Jr. was hired as Visiting Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • James E. Bird was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.

1982

  • Peter G. Winchell Memorial Lectures were initiated.
  • Professors Robert Vest and Geraldine Deputy got married.
  • Professor Paul B. Eaton retired after 30 years of service on the MSE faculty.
  • David R. Gaskell was hired as Professor of Materials Engineering to provide leadership in the Extractive Metallurgy area.
  • Thomas Sanders, Jr. became Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Nobuo Otsuka joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.

1983

  • Dr. Steven C. Beering became the ninth President of Purdue University.
  • R.Schuhmann, Jr. was elected a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Science.
  • Professor G. L. Liedl was elected chairman of the University Materials Council, a national organization for the academic area of Materials Science and Engineering

1984

  • Henry T. Yang became the Dean of Engineering succeeding John C. Hancock.
  • Professor H. Sato was named the Ross Professor of Engineering.
  • Professor Sanders visited the DFVLR (The German Research and Development Center for Air and Space Travel) in Koln, Germany for six months as a Visiting Research Scientist.
  • Multiple undergraduate curricula of prior years were replaced by a single broad-based core curriculum.

1985

  • Gerald L. Liedl served on an NRC panel to study Education in MSE.
  • Albert I. Schindler joined Purdue as Director of the Materials research laboratory, holding a joint appointment in the School of Materials Engineering and Department of Physics.
  • Professor S. J. Hruska was away on sabbatical leave for a year working at MIT and the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center in Boston.
  • R. Kikuchi was a visiting Professor at Purdue working with Professor Sato.
  • Thomas Sanders, Jr. became Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Professor Gerald L. Liedl became a Fellow of the American Society for Metals.

1986

  • Professors Robert Vest and Geraldine Vest went to England on sabbatical and interacted with the Office of Naval research and the faculty of Imperial College, respectively.
  • Professor Robert Spitzer received the prestigious Potter Award for the best of engineering teachers from the School of Engineering.
  • Nobuo Otsuka was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • As part of a Japan-US Cooperative program in the field of transmission Electron Microscopy, a group of Japanese scientists spent over a month interacting with Professor Sato.
  • R.Schuhmann, Jr., Professor Emeritus of Engineering, was honored at an international symposium held in his honor in Denver.

1987

  • The Indiana Center for Innovative Superconductor Technology (ICIST) was established.
  • Professor Thomas H. Sanders resigned to take up a faculty position at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Professor R.E. Grace was appointed Vice-President for Student Services.
  • Geraldine Vest became a Fellow of the Gemological Society of Great Britain.

1988

  • K.J. Bowman was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Professor Al Schindler moved temporarily to National Science Foundation as the Head of the Division of Materials.
  • Professor James E. Bird left Purdue for a job in Alcoa.
  • The MSE Faculty and Staff moved to the new Materials and Electrical Engineering (MSEE) building from the (CMET) building.
  • The Reinhardt Schuhmann Jr. Laboratory was dedicated in honor of the founding head of the school.

1989

  • Professor Richard E. Grace, Vice President for Student Services, became the 1989 national recipient of the Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award.
  • G.L. Liedl was selected to serve on the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
  • Professor Liedl played a key leadership role in getting the Midwest Superconductivity Consortium supported by the Department of Energy.
  • Hiroshi Sato retired as Ross Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Engineering.
  • William M. Mullins was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Vicki Cline was hired as the Administrative Assistant for Academic Affairs.
  • Michael McCulley (1970 MSE graduate), a Navy Commander with NASA and a Purdue astronaut, piloted the Space Shuttle Atlantis that launched the interplanetary probe, Galileo.

1990

  • An entirely new curriculum in Materials Science and Engineering with an integrated approach across the materials classes was approved.
  • The change in the degree name from B.S.Met.E. to B.S.MSE ( Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering) was approved.
  • Eric P. Kvam joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • An ONR workshop on ferroelectric films was held in the Turner Laboratory.
  • Professor A.I. Schindler returned from NSF after completing a 2-year assignment as Director of Materials Research.

1991

  • 22 members of the first class to receive the B.S. Met. E. degree (the Class of 1941) returned to campus to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.
  • Kevin Trumble joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Professors Robert W. Vest and Geraldine M. Vest retired.

1992

  • Professor M. A. Dayananda spent the summer months as Brahm Prakash Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India and presented a series of lectures on multicomponent diffusion.
  • Nobuo Otsuka was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Keith Bowman was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Arden L. Bement, Jr., a member of the National Academy of Engineering, was hired as the Basil S. Turner Distinguished Professor of Engineering and Director of the Midwest Superconductivity Consortium.
  • Professor Nobuo Otsuka resigned to go back to Japan and take up a position in the Department of Materials Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Hokuriku, Ishikawa, Japan.

1993

  • Professor Reinhardt Schuhmann, Jr. was honored with an honorary doctorate from Purdue University.
  • Bill Mullins left Purdue to take up a position at the Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Ohio.
  • Dr. Said Mansour was appointed as the Director of Turner Electroceramics Laboratory.

1994

  • Eric P. Kvam was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • M.A. Dayananda was elected Fellow of the ASM International.
  • Elliott B. Slamovich was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.

1995

  • James E. Angelo was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • David R. Gaskell spent sabbatical as Visiting Professor of Extraction Metallurgy, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia and as Visiting Scientist, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Clayton, Victoria, Australia.
  • Keith Bowman received the Charles Murphy Undergraduate Teaching Award.
  • John Radavich retired after 42 years on the faculty at Purdue and 22 years of association with the School of Materials Engineering.
  • R.E. Grace retired as Vice President for Student Services Emeritus and became the Founding Director of the Undergraduate Studies program.
  • Richard J. Schwartz became the Dean of Engineering succeeding Henry Yang.
  • James E. Angelo resigned to take up an industrial position in Minnesota.

1996

  • Keith Bowman was a Guest Professor at Techniche Hochschule Darmstadt at Darmstadt, Germany
  • Said Mansour became the Director of Microstructural Analysis Facility.
  • Keith Bowman was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Kevin Trumble was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Matthew John M. Krane was hired as Visiting Assistant Professor.
  • A new international exchange program for juniors was initiated with Tohoku University, Japan.
  • An environmental SEM ( Phillips-Electroscan ESEM 2020) coupled with in-situ low frequency mechanical testing facility was acquired for the Central Microstructural Analysis Facility.

1997

  • Matthew John M. Krane became Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Jean Lee was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Professor Arden Bement received the National Materials Advancement Award from the Federation of Materials Societies.

1998

  • Basil S. Turner Professor of Engineering, Arden Bement, Jr., was appointed as the Head of the School of Nuclear Engineering.
  • Professor Samuel J. Hruska went on long term leave due to health reasons.
  • David R. Johnson was appointed as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.

1999

  • Keith Bowman was named Purdue University Faculty Fellow.
  • Kevin Trumble spent sabbatical as Visiting Scientist at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
  • The M.S. Met.E. degree was changed to read M.S.MSE (M.S. Materials Science Engineering).
  • Gerald L. Liedl received the Distinguished Service Award from the Metallurgical Society.
  • Professor G.L. Liedl retired after 21 years as Head of the School and moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina.
  • M.A. Dayananda was appointed as Interim Head of the School of Materials Engineering.
  • Alexander King was appointed as the Head of the School of Materials Engineering.
  • Eric P. Kvam was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.

2000

  • David Gaskell was the Iron and Steel Society 2000 Elliott Memorial lecturer.
  • R.E. Grace retired as Vice-President Emeritus for Student Services and Professor Emeritus of Materials Engineering.
  • Jean Lee resigned from her position as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Martin C. Jischke succeeded Steven C. Beering as the 10th President of Purdue University.
  • Rodney W. Trice was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Kevin Trumble was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Keith Bowman became a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society.
  • Plans were announced for Purdue’s $100 million Discovery Park to bring together researchers from a wide range of specialties.
  • The Board of Trustees approved Purdue’s first university-wide strategic plan calling for 300 new faculty positions, new facilities, expansion of interdisciplinary research, among others.

2002

  • Alex King became the President of the Materials Research Society.
  • Elliot B. Slamovich was selected as a Fellow of Purdue University Teaching Academy.
  • Linda P. Katehi became the Dean of Engineering succeeding Richard J. Schwartz.
  • Keith Bowman was a Guest Professor at Techniche Hochschule Darmstadt at Darmstadt, Germany.
  • Timothy D. Sands was appointed as the Basil S. Turner Professor of Engineering in joint appointment with the School of Materials Engineering and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

2003

  • Keith Bowman was a Guest Professor at the University of New South Wales, Sidney, Australia.
  • M.A. Dayananda received the Engineering Faculty Engagement/Service Award of Excellence from the College of Engineering.
  • Keith Bowman was inducted into the Purdue Book of Great Teachers.
  • Matthew J. M. Krane was promoted to Associate professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Jeffrey P. Youngblood was hired as Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering.

2004

  • David R. Johnson was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.

  • M. A. Dayananda was honored at a symposium held in his honor by the TMS at San Antonio, Texas, for his research contributions in the area of multicomponent, multiphase diffusion.
  • Matthew Krane was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
  • Alex King returned to campus after his year-long assignment as a Jefferson Fellow at the U.S. State Department.
  • Keith Bowman was appointed as Associate Head of the School of Materials Engineering.
  • Rodney Trice was promoted to Associate Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Leah H. Jamieson became the Dean of Engineering succeeding Linda Katehi.

2007

  • Keith Bowman received the College of Engineering Mentoring Award of Excellence.
  • Eric Stach received the College of Engineering Early Career Award of Excellence. He also received tenure as Associate Professor.
  • The MSE Faculty and Staff moved to the new Armstrong Hall of Engineering (ARMS) building from the MSEE building.
  • France A. Córdova became the eleventh President of Purdue University succeeding Martin Jischke.
  • Byron Pipes became the Director of Purdue Institute for Defense Innovation.
  • R. Edwin Garcia received the Robert Young Scholar Coble Award from the American Ceramic Society.
  • The dedication ceremonies for The Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering were held in the presence of several astronauts including Neil Armstrong, Eugene Cernan and Michael McCulley (MSE alumnus).
  • Alex King resigned to take up a position as Director of the Ames laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy research facility at Ames, Iowa.
  • Keith Bowman was appointed as Head of the School of Materials Engineering.

2008

  • David Johnson was on sabbatical at Kyoto University, Japan.
  • Elliott B. Slamovich was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Richard E. Grace, Professor Emeritus, was honored for his many contributions to the MSE School and Purdue University by naming the MSE conference room as the Richard E. Grace Conference room in the ARMS building.
  • Carol Handwerker was designated as the Reinhardt Schuhmann, Jr. Professor of Materials Engineering.
  • Patricia J. Finney received the New Employee Award from the College of Engineering.

2009

  • Carol A. Handwerker received the TMS Leadership Award.
  • Alejandro Strachan received the TMS Early Career Faculty Award.
  • Eric Stach was selected to receive the distinction of a University Faculty Scholar from the College of Engineering.
  • Alejandro Strachan was a member of the team that received the Team Award of Excellence from the College of Engineering.
  • 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the School of Materials Engineering.
