Asia Pacific Programs Manager
Wei Qiu has a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. She has published in global competency development, intercultural communication, experiential learning, and technology-enhanced language education. Part of Wei’s research grew from multiple study abroad programs that she has led to China for Michigan State University, Phi Delta Kappa International based in Bloomington, Indiana, and Hanban based in Beijing, China. In her current role at GEP, Wei manages East-Asia study abroad programs for Purdue Engineering schools, including the signature program of undergraduate semester exchange at Shanghai Jiaotong Univeristy (ETA) and semester exchange in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She co-teaches a pre-departure orientation course for ETA-SJTU (e.g., ME 297) and accompanies the students to Shanghai and Hong Kong for intercultural learning and industry visits. Meanwhile, Wei is in the effort of developing new programs for Purdue rising sophomore engineering students to explore interesting technology landscape of Japan & Korea (e.g., robotics) and China (e.g., makerspaces). Wei enjoys learning about different cultures and languages. She speaks Mandarin, English, and Japanese.
