For local support in obtaining a passport contact the Lafayette Branch of the US Post Office located at 3450 State Road 26 East (just east of Home Depot). No appointments are necessary. The US Post Office is open Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and 9:00 am and 12:00pm on Saturday.  

If you need passport or visa photos and you are an engineering student, you may have them taken at the Office of Global Engineering Programs by appointment only.

Apply for passport renewal now to prevent travel mishaps.

The State Department is urging citizens to apply for passport renewal now due to an expected surge in demand this year. Officials are expecting the renewal of the many 10-year passports issued in 2006 and 2007 which may cause backlogs if people don't begin renewing soon. State Department officials also say to renew due to many countries now enforcing a requirement for at least six months' validity on a US passport.
