Purdue University and The Jackson Laboratory have created a new bioengineering facility and will hold a joint symposium to discuss the latest research in areas from implantable medical devices to the genetics behind human diseases.
Researchers have created a new type of transparent electrode that might find uses in solar cells, flexible displays for computers and consumer electronics and future "optoelectronic" circuits for sensors and information processing.
Professor Roy has been at Purdue since 1993 when he was appointed assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering. He became associate professor in 1997, professor in 2001 and the Roscoe H. George Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2005.
University Faculty Scholars are select associate and full professors who have been in that rank for no more than five years and are on an accelerated path toward academic distinction.
"The accreditation is the first time anything produced by a DHS Center of Excellence has been verified and validated for use by the Coast Guard," said ECE Professor David Ebert, who is also the VACCINE director.
