U.S. Department of State publication highlights Purdue semiconductor collaborations with India
A U.S. Department of State publication is spotlighting Purdue University’s growing semiconductor collaborations with India.
SPAN, a U.S. Embassy New Delhi publication, recently featured Purdue’s work in an article titled “Connecting Research and Strategy in Semiconductors.” The publication reaches audiences in English, Hindi and Urdu, extending the visibility of Purdue’s international partnerships across multiple languages.
The article highlights Purdue’s semiconductor engagement with India, including the establishment of the US-India Centre of Excellence in Semiconductors in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. The partnership brings together research, talent development and industry connections at a time when semiconductor innovation and workforce development are becoming increasingly important around the world.
Vijay Raghunathan, Purdue’s Vice President and University Ambassador to India, Director of Semiconductor Education, and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is featured in the story. In the article, he emphasizes the complementary strengths of the two countries in advancing semiconductor research and manufacturing.
“The United States brings leadership in advanced semiconductor research and innovation, while India brings scale, talent, and bold ambitions in manufacturing,” Raghunathan said in the feature.
The recognition underscores Purdue’s role in helping build global semiconductor partnerships that connect discovery, education and economic strategy. It also reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with international partners to address challenges in semiconductor technology, talent pipelines and supply chain resilience.
The SPAN feature gives Purdue’s semiconductor efforts additional international visibility and highlights how the university is contributing to deeper U.S.-India cooperation in a field critical to the future of technology.
