Boilermaker Circuit connects ECE students with top employers

The Boilermaker Circuit, one of the Elmore Family School of Engineering's signature career fairs, brought a packed house to the Purdue campus Sept. 11.

The Boilermaker Circuit, one of ECE’s signature career fairs, brought a packed house to the Purdue campus Sept. 11.

Hosted by ECE’s Corporate Partnerships Office, the event welcomed 23 Corporate Partner companies and 82 employer representatives to the ECE Design Studio and MSEE Atrium. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., students filled the space, lining up to talk with recruiters about internships, co-ops and full-time roles.

Because the fair is designed specifically for ECE students, many found it more focused and rewarding than larger, campuswide career fairs.

The day kicked off with remarks from ECE Head Milind Kulkarni, who described the strength of the school in terms of its high ranking and the depth of talent. He stressed the importance of events such as the Boilermaker Circuit for getting our students in front of exciting career opportunities and real-world challenging projects. Kulkarni welcomed the Corporate Partners and thanked them for continuing to invest in Purdue ECE talent.

Saurabh Bagchi, director of the Corporate Partners Program, followed with a message about his team’s mission: helping students connect with employers and giving Corporate Partners ways to engage in the classroom, through the Stories of Success seminar, and with company-specific recruiting events or tech talks.

After a full day of networking, recruiters and students joined staff for a casual dinner. The evening wrapped up with a lighthearted quiz on all things Purdue and ECE, hosted by Bagchi.

The event’s success was thanks to the hard work of the Corporate Partnerships Office staff, Mary Ann Satterfield and Matthew Potrawski, along with support from the ECE Communications Office, Associate Director of Undergraduate Advising Angela Rainwater, and  the ECE Ambassadors, who greeted and guided guests throughout the day.
