Record USNWR rankings for both the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering graduate programs

In the latest display of its graduate research and education excellence, Purdue’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering reached a notable milestone in U.S. News & World Report graduate rankings released today (June 18, 2024).  Both programs received their highest-ever ranking, with Electrical Engineering up one spot to number 7 and Computer Engineering up two spots to number 8.

“This ranking milestone is a testament not only to the hard work our students, faculty, and staff put in day in and out, but also the support we have received from the college and the university,” said Milind Kulkarni, Michael and Katherine Birck Head and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “Rankings are not important in themselves but this milestone is a byproduct of our commitment to excellence.”

Overall, Purdue Engineering has its most-ever disciplines (nine) in the top 10 of USNWR’s Best Graduate Engineering Schools rankings, and in addition to ECE, three additional disciplines achieved their own best-ever standing.

In addition, Purdue Engineering has three disciplines in the top five—the most disciplines in that category since these rankings were published in 2005.

“Our rankings attest to the high reputation of our faculty and the increasing growth of our research and innovation programs,” said Arvind Raman, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering. “Purdue Engineering continues to progress towards its vision for 2030 to accelerate excellence at scale and to become the most consequential engineering college. This new recognition reflects increasing prestige from our faculty’s recognitions and growing pre-eminence in areas such as semiconductors, space engineering, digital agriculture, infrastructure, computing, sustainability, energy and manufacturing."

Purdue's College of Engineering ranks No. 6 overall for its graduate engineering programs.
