Purdue Prof. Santokh Badesha named a Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy
Santokh Badesha, Distinguished Professor in Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elected as a 'Foreign Fellow' of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). Foreign fellows are individuals who do not live in India and are renowned for their contributions to science and have contributed or can contribute to the progress of science in India.
The Indian National Science Academy, founded in 1935, is one of the most esteemed scientific bodies in India, with a mission to promote scientific knowledge and foster collaborations between scientists from around the world. The election of Badesha as a Foreign Fellow is a significant achievement, underscoring his global impact and influence within the scientific community.
Badesha was cited for international recognition of his invention of foundational technologies that have ushered in the era of digital printing on demand, transforming the communication and productivity of hundreds of millions of people around the world. He is the all-time Xerox recordholder for U.S. Patents, having generated the patented technology that is used in nearly all major Xerox printing system families. Badesha continues to drive innovation across Xerox’s suite of printing systems, especially in the areas of solid and aqueous inkjet printing and the next generation of digital printing technology.
Badesha said he is deeply honored to be elected as an INSA Foreign Fellow.

Badesha said he is also looking forward to strengthening the collaboration between Purdue University and India working through INSA, in areas of cutting-edge research and innovation, contributing to the growth of global knowledge and impact.
As a Foreign Fellow of INSA, Badesha joins a select group of eminent scientists from around the world who are recognized for their contributions to science. His election reinforces Purdue University’s reputation as a hub of innovation and a leader in global scientific endeavors.
Badesha has received numerous prestigious awards, including being a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry UK, and an honorary member of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology. He is a co-inventor on 273 issued U.S. patents, with another 55 U.S. patents pending. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 journal papers and has written 10 book chapters and white papers.
