Several Boilermakers are set to participate in the global cross-sector innovation conference this week

Purdue University President Mung Chiang will highlight the university’s major presence in Indianapolis and in statewide innovation ecosystems at the upcoming Rally innovation conference in downtown Indianapolis. The global cross-sector innovation conference takes place Aug. 29-31 at the Indiana Convention Center.

Chiang will be joined on the keynotes docket by President Emeritus Mitch Daniels, along with faculty speakers including Shreyas Sen, an Elmore Associate Professor of electrical and computer engineering and biomedical engineering at Purdue University. Purdue Innovates will also be on-site at the conference, alongside leaders from Amazon, Amazon Web Services, Google and NBC Sports, as attendees forge and celebrate connections among companies, entrepreneurs, investors and universities from across the world in the heart of Indiana’s capital city.

“Boilermakers are proud to join innovative minds from all over the world to participate in this impactful conference in Indianapolis showcasing the talents and momentum in the heartland,” Chiang said. “In each of the featured sectors at the Rally conference — hard tech, food tech, health tech and sports tech — Purdue innovates in the heart of Indianapolis, throughout the state and across the country.”

Additional Information

Purdue’s participation at Rally is the latest example of the university’s increasing involvement in Indianapolis. Earlier this summer, Purdue announced a partnership to house some Purdue Innovates and Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business executive education programs at High Alpha in the burgeoning Bottleworks District. Scott Dorsey, the managing partner of High Alpha, is scheduled as one of the conference’s keystone speakers alongside Chiang during an afternoon session Aug. 30.

The High Alpha collaboration came on the heels of the official launch of the new Purdue University in Indianapolis, Purdue’s first comprehensive urban campus, which is slated to open in 2024. Purdue is committed to expanding the academic and research excellence that the university is known for to Indianapolis, across all colleges and programs, while investing in and partnering with Indiana’s capital city to significantly grow the tech-driven economy and spur innovation throughout central Indiana.

Besides Chiang, featured speakers at Rally include Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, certified futurist and tech strategist Crystal Washington, celebrated business leader and basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Elevate Ventures CEO Christopher “Toph” Day and Kate Maxwell, the chief technology officer for worldwide defense and intelligence in Microsoft’s worldwide public sector. The three-day agenda includes presentations on agriculture and food, health care, hard tech, software, sports tech and entrepreneurship.
