Kaushik Roy, the Edward G. Tiedemann Jr. Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, will receive the 2020 Arden L. Bement Jr. Award for significant accomplishments in pure and applied science and engineering.

Purdue ECE team advances to phase III of IARPA DIVA program

A project led by Purdue ECE Prof. Jeff Siskind has advanced to phase III of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) Deep Intermodal Video Activity (DIVA) program. IBM is the prime contractor for the effort, and Purdue and MIT are subcontractors.

Purdue University signs agreements with Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to launch dual degree programs

Purdue University’s colleges of Engineering and Science, and Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed agreements Tuesday (Aug. 11) to enable Egyptian students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, or a Professional Master degree in Information Security from Purdue University.

Google and Purdue Team up to Create Open-Source TensorFlow Model Implementations

Google is collaborating with a student team at Purdue University to create open-source TensorFlow models. TensorFlow is a deep learning framework created by Google. The student team will implement recently-published algorithms and methods in machine learning. The implementations will be made available through a public repository called “Model Garden” maintained by researchers and engineers from Google.

ECE alumnus tapped to chair Purdue’s Equity Task Force

The Purdue Board of Trustees has approved the creation of a task force focused on achieving equality for all members of the Boilermaker community. ECE alumnus and university trustee Don Thompson (BSEE '84) will chair the Equity Task Force.

ECE faculty appointed to named professorships

Two ECE faculty members have been appointed to named professorships. Alexandra Boltasseva was appointed the Ron and Dotty Garvin Tonjes Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Anand Raghunathan was appointed the Silicon Valley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
