PhD Student Joseph M. Lukens receives Paul Baran Young Scholar Award
The award from the Marconi Society recognizes individuals who have, at an early age, demonstrated exceptional engineering or scientific research and entrepreneurial capabilities with the potential to create significant advances in telecommunications and the internet. He is advised by Professor Andrew Weiner.
Recent PhD student Joseph M. Lukens has been selected for the Paul Baran Young Scholar Award from the Marconi Society, which recognizes individuals "who have, at an early age, demonstrated exceptional engineering or scientific research and entrepreneurial capabilities with the potential to create significant advances in telecommunications and the Internet." The award includes a $4000 cash prize and will be conferred in October at the Royal Society in London. Lukens was cited for pioneering work in secure communications, including temporal cloaking and biphoton pulse shaping, and is advised by Prof. Andrew M. Weiner.
