PhD student I-Fan Lin has been awarded the College of Engineering 2015 Outstanding Graduate Student Service Scholarship. This scholarship includes an award of $2,000 to honor a graduate student who has provided outstanding service to the graduate student community, the School, the College, and/or the University.

I-Fan Lin is currently a doctoral student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue working with Prof. Mark R. Bell. His research is focused on biologically inspired processing of radar waveforms for enhanced delay-Doppler resolution. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, I-Fan graduated from National Taiwan University (NTU) in 2004 with Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He received his M.S. in 2006 in Electrical Engineering, NTU.

I-Fan's selected contributions to Purdue and the Greater Lafayette community include:

Boiler Out Volunteer Program, ISS - Student Leader (2013-)
Lead international student groups of 7 to 40 members to volunteer in the greater Lafayette community at Food Finders Food Bank, Lafayette Transitional Housing Center, Hanna Community Center, schools, and others. Contact local organizations to organize events, explain and clarify tasks to students, encourage participation and interaction among students as well as between students and community members.

This program was named to the Presidents Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in 2014.

IEEE HKN-Beta Chapter - Volunteer Director (2014), President (2015)
Organize community service and ECE service such as LaTeX workshop, Debugging workshop, Soldering workshop, and ECE tutoring sessions for both undergraduate and graduate students. With his dedication to the service, HKN has been nominated for the 2015 Community Engagement and Involvement Award. I-Fan also received the HKN Outstanding Active Award in Spring 2014.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA) - President (2014-2015)
Make a great network with all ECE graduate students by having social night, musical night, technical/fun talk, picnic, cultural awareness week, and also develop a bigger network by having events with other engineering departments. Do the outreach program by participating in the Next Generation Scholars Research Fair, talking to local 8th graders about electrical and computer engineering and how it benefits multiple fields of research and practice. Under I-Fan's leadership, ECEGSA has been nominated for Outstanding Program Award in Student Activities and Organization (SAO)
