Professor Peter Bermel's work on building better suntraps for solar energy conversion featured in The Economist
The December 31 issue of The Economist features an article that describes Professor Peter Bermel's work on novel suntraps that can yield solar cells with an efficiency of 37% or higher (compared with the maximum of 28% of standard silicon-based solar cells). Professor Bermel has just joined Purdue ECE as an Assistant Professor.
The December 31 issue of The Economist features an article that describes Professor Peter Bermel's work on novel suntraps that can yield solar cells with an efficiency of 37% or higher (compared with the maximum of 28% of standard silicon-based solar cells). The key component is an absorber composed of a metamaterial that can concentrate solar energy much more efficiently. This work has been featured in other prominent media outlets such as Scientific American and MSNBC. Professor Bermel has just joined Purdue ECE as an Assistant Professor.
