Graduate Student Manuel Ochoa has won second place in the Science as Art Competition as the Material Research Society (MRS) fall meeting in Boston. The photo is titled "Ferrofluid-coated tape grippers close underwater and await collection by a permanent magnet". The contest was open to all registered MRS attendees, and it showcased images of scientific research with artistic aesthetics. Judging was based on overall artistic presentation. Manuel won $200 as part of his award. He is advised by Professor Babak Ziaie.
