Professor Gerhard Klimeck presents technology to the White House

On October 29, 2010 Professor Gerhard Klimeck, along with George Adams, NCN Associate Director, and David McKinnis, Director of the Technical Assistance Program, presented nanoHUB.org and Purdue's HUBzero technology to the White House.

On Friday, October 29, 2010 ECE Professor Gerhard Klimeck, along with George Adams, NCN Associate Director, and David McKinnis, Director, Technical Assistance Program and Associate Vice Provost for Engagement, presented nanoHUB.org and Purdue’s HUBzero® technology to Ron Bloom, Senior Counselor for Manufacturing Policy and Special Counselor to the President, The White House and John  Fernandez, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), and seven others. 

This presentation was in support of The Midwest Project for SME – OEM Use of Modeling and Simulation proposal for the first large-scale public-private partnership of the United States Government, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), state and university computing centers, and other non-governmental organizations to provide education, training, and access to computing resources for the Small and Medium-Size Enterprise (SME) workforce to develop modeling and simulation skills. nanoHUB.org and Purdue University’s HUBzero® platform for collaboration are key elements of this proposal.

On Friday, December 10, 2010 Gerhard Klimeck and George Adams briefed Aneesh Chopra, Chief Technology Officer and Assistant to the President and Associate Director for Technology, Office of Science and Technology Policy, The White House on nanoHUB and HUBzero technology and Technical Assistance Program (TAP) participation in The Midwest Project for SME – OEM Use of Modeling and Simulation proposal. Chopra expressed his strong interest in Purdue University participation and hope that the proposal would be awarded by EDA.
