Graduate student Eric Naglich was awarded 2nd place in the student paper competition at the IEEE MTT Symposium.  With approximately 10,000 visitors, this conference is the largest in the area of microwave and RF systems.  Eric won his prize focusing on the ability to adaptively create deep isolation between RF systems to allow for operating in a crowded spectrum.  Eric determined how to cascade tunable bandpass filters and tunable bandstop filters to create nearly 100 dB of isolation.  The work was sponsored by Darpa as part of the DARPA ASP project.  Co-authors were post doc Juseop Lee and Professors Dimitrios Peroulis and William Chappell.
