Boston University Photonics Center was just awarded a National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site in Integrated Nanomanufacturing. The Boston University Photonics Center (BUPC) offers a 10-week paid summer NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates program. Our site in integrated nanomanufacturing, involves students in research areas including nanophotonics, nanostructures, and nanomedicine with exploration in materials, fabrication and integration of nanoscale systems. To learn more about our site and the application process, students can visit: http://www.bu.edu/photonics-reu/.

The uniqueness of BUPC’s REU site is in the cleanroom experience and personalized mentoring. Each participant will work in the cleanroom designing and fabricating their own masks and structures and then be involved in nano-replication and fabrication. Additionally, our faculty mentors are dedicated to spending time working with the undergraduates during the summer and follow on years, helping them with potential graduate opportunities that may exist for them at Boston University and other colleges.

This opportunity is open to all Electrical and Computer, Materials Science, Biomedical and Mechanical engineering students. We are also looking to draw students from universities without STEM graduate programs in these areas as well as community college students. Participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
