The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the the broad area of quantum information including quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum sensing. Applicants must have completed, or will have completed by the start date, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, and have demonstrated excellence in research.
The ECE Department also has an opening for an Assistant Chair. The candidate will serve as a member of our non-tenure track teaching faculty and assist in administrative duties for the department. Applicants must have completed a PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, have a demonstrated excellence in teaching and have a strong interest in advancing ECE at Northwestern.

Information on Position
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University is seeking outstanding candidates who are excited by the opportunity to help build the future of quantum information at a world-class university. Minimum Qualifications and Other Credentials
We invite candidates to apply for a tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Applicants must have completed, or will have completed by the start date, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, and have demonstrated excellence in experimental research within the broad area of quantum information. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to: quantum communication, quantum computation, and quantum sensing. A candidate with substantial accomplishments in post-graduate research will be considered for appointment as a tenure-track Associate Professor without tenure. Under exceptional circumstances, a candidate may be considered for appointment as an Associate Professor with tenure; in that case, additional supporting material commensurate with the tenure process at Northwestern University may be required and will be sought separately after initial review of the application and interview with the candidate.
Statement of Duties
The candidate is typically expected to teach one course per academic quarter, and carry out robust research activities. In addition, the candidate is expected to serve on various departmental committees as a member of the faculty.
Proposed Start Date
Ideally, the start date would be September 1, 2022. However, the start date is negotiable under unusual circumstances.
