A Purdue University alumna and a graduate student have been recognized for their invention designed and tested to improve a surgeon’s experience with a commonly performed surgery, resulting in better results for patient recovery time.

Research teams led by faculty at both the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Purdue University College of Engineering have been awarded pilot grants through the Engineering in Medicine program, a joint research effort between the two schools.
