Position: Postdoctoral Scholar in Biodetection (LIBS, Raman Spectroscopy)
Purdue University's Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and College of Veterinary Medicine are offering a number of postdoctoral positions that are focused on the research and development of innovative biodetection technologies. The positions are under the mentorship of Professor J. Paul Robinson, Professor Bartek Rajwa (Bindley Bioscience Center), and Dr. Euiwon Bae (Mechanical Engineering). The primary objective of these positions is to advance the capabilities of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy for the development of portable detection systems.
Our research group is currently in search of postdoctoral scholars who possess expertise and a keen interest in the fields of biodetection, biosecurity, and biosurveillance. The potential projects that these scholars may be involved in include the design and fabrication of new portable instruments that can detect pathogens, toxins, or pesticides in the field. The required skills include spectroscopy, software development, and knowledge of machine learning and chemometrics. Our aim is to develop innovative solutions that can improve the efficiency of biodetection processes, and we believe that qualified individuals with a passion for these areas can help us achieve this goal. If you have the necessary skills and expertise, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
Ideal candidates for this position should possess a Ph.D. degree in relevant fields, such as engineering, medical physics, bioinformatics, or any related field. Prior experience in any of the following areas is strongly desired: spectroscopy, optical engineering, biological data science, or bioinformatics. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The candidates should be highly motivated, independent, and committed to excellence in a competitive yet highly cooperative and productive research environment. In addition to annual leave and medical benefits, a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
