Graduate Students Making Use of Professional Development Opportunities
Beyond the research laboratories of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, graduate students have many opportunities to make connections, meet potential future employers, and hone professional and communication skills.
Students have a wide variety of growth experiences available to them for furthering professional development. In the past year, these ranged from a presentation by a speaker from the Purdue University Department of Theatre, to a visit to an operating room in a local hospital, to opportunities to speak with owners of start-up companies, to participation in a summer, week-long tour of government agencies in Washington, DC and Maryland.
The Graduate Programs staff responds to the professional development needs and interests as expressed by the graduate students and the faculty advisors.
The photo was taken on a recent trip to Washington, DC, and Maryland, where the group visited the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Drug Abuse, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, and the U.S. food and Drug Administration.
