Why I chose Purdue?
I chose Purdue for their strong reputation for producing very competent engineers with many job prospects after graduation. I had also learned about their Biomedical engineering program before choosing to attend, and I knew that was where my interests were going towards at that point.

Why I chose Engineering and BME?
I chose engineering because I wanted to solve problems that have never been solved before. I was always fascinated with the medical field and anatomy and physiology and I found the perfect combination of my interests in Biomedical Engineering.

Extra-curricular activities:
Through my time at Purdue, I have been involved in both the Women in Engineering program as a mentor and the Society for Women Engineers. Also, I have served on a committee for Purdue Dance Marathon and am very active in my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta. I was a charter member of the re-colonization of Order of Omega on campus, which is a Leadership and Honor Society. I have also enjoyed volunteering as a tutor and for a number of different community organizations in Lafayette and West Lafayette.

Engineering-related experience/CO-OP/Intern/Research
Currently I am working as a consultant with a start-up company that I interned at this summer, focusing on development and testing of new designs. In the past I worked as a New Product development co-op in orthopedics with a company in Warsaw, IN. I also researched under one of the professors in the BME department in a protein engineering project. This past summer, I had the opportunity to take the Global Engineering Design in Ireland maymester course and traveled around Ireland and the UK. All of these opportunities I have been able to pursue through the Weldon school’s connections, for which I am very grateful!

Post-graduation plans
I plan to work in industry after graduation, and I am hoping to find a position focusing on design and development of new medical products. After a few years of work experience, I plan to pursue an MBA part-time while continuing to work.
